Do you feel scared of something? Has it become a major issue in your life that is getting worse and making you feel anxious?

When you start thinking about that fear your heart might start racing…you might feel shaky or sick…or maybe you do everything to avoid any situations related to it.

You just want these negative thoughts and feelings to stop. You know that it’s irrational to think and feel like this, but the harder you try to ignore it the more it persists.

Fears and phobias are irrational beliefs, but they are also very real to those people who are suffering.

Linda can help you to find ways to help yourself to feel so much better.
If you feel afraid of something you are not alone.

Many people suffer with fears and phobias, yet they don’t need to suffer as there are things that can help.

Did you know…

  • Fears and phobias are a worldwide problem.
  • Approximately 10 percent of people in the U.S. have specific phobias, 7.1 percent experience social phobias, and 0.9 percent have agoraphobia. National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH).
  • Its estimated that 10 million people in the UK have a phobia.
  • A fear of heights and a fear of public speaking are two of the most common phobias.
  • Women experience more fears than men.

Isn’t it time now to take control and combat your fears and phobias?
A fear or a phobia are not the same.

A fear is an apprehension about something.
This could be a dislike of turbulence in an aeroplane or driving on a motorway.

A phobia is more profound. It’s an anxiety disorder that causes extreme fear or dread and will lead to avoidance.

A phobia is an overwhelming and debilitating fear of an object, place, situation, feeling or animal. (More..)

There are many different phobias. Some are unusual such as the fear of reflections or looking in the mirror, a fear of the Pope, or a fear of the colour yellow, while others are very common such as a fear of spiders or a fear of flying.

Phobias can be simple such as being frightened of buttons or complex such as a social phobia. With complex phobias there are several anxiety provoking aspects that come together.

Specific phobias can be categorised into four areas:

  • Natural / environmental phobias e.g. a fear of thunder and lightning, water, heights
  • Body phobias e.g., fear of injections, blood, vomit
  • Animal phobias e.g. a fear of dogs, snakes, insects, rats
  • Situational e.g. a fear of enclosed spaces, fear of going to the dentist, driving, flying
